This morning I was blessed by the Life for Leaders devotional in a new series called, Leading in a Crisis: The Difference God Makes.

You can subscribe to that that by clicking HERE.

What I gleaned from Dr. Mark Robert’s devotion were these things:

1. “Psalm 46 begins, not with wishful thinking, but with bedrock, unchanging, life-changing truth about God.”

2. “The Bible’s prohibition against fear does not discourage the wise evaluation of threats and taking appropriate action…Quite the contrary! Take Proverbs 14:16 for example: ‘The wise are cautious and turn away from evil, but the fool throws off restraint and is careless.’” I want to be wise.

3. “When we read about the threat of COVID-19, not only to our health but also to our social and economic wellbeing, we understandably feel afraid. We can allow this fear to take control of our minds and hearts. Or, we can let it turn us to the Lord, remembering his goodness and grace.”

I am so glad that we are not alone.

Our Christian brothers and sisters all over the globe are challenged by this pandemic and are offering support and encouragement and solutions to overcome our fear. I’m grateful for my friend Mark, for his comments and insights.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Psalm 46 reminds us that God is a very present help in trouble. Lean into that. YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

We at Emmanuel are in this together.

  1. Appreciate the Biblical Affirmation, Pastor Craig! Inspiring, Enriching and Edifying! …WE REMAIN ENCOURAGED THROUGH STRONG FAITH IN GOD’S PROMISES .. George

  2. Thank you
Craig, for this encouragement. As I was praying and reading this morning I was reminded of 2Timothy 1:7. “For we have not been given a Spirit of Fear but of power and love and a sound mind”. I am so greatful that we can leave our fears at the foot of the Cross, with confidence that He hears us. Blessings and health to you, Jill DeOliveira

  3. When God tells us not to fear, this is not a suggestion but rather a command for our own good. Praise God for his faithfulness and that we can rely on his never ending love. Nothing in all creation can separate us from the love God provides for us. I am so thankful for his presence in my life.
